A Journey of Integration
For more than 20 years, Dr. Renee McSwain has been at the intersection of healthcare, education, and leadership development.
She began her career in public affairs and project management, overseeing more than $3M in federal healthcare communication contracts for agencies such as NIH, NIAID, and AHRQ. She produced training videos, coordinated grant-funded initiatives, and led teams of communications professionals, gaining a deep understanding of how complex systems—and the people inside them—actually work.
Along the way, she felt called to a more integrative, whole-person approach. She earned her Master's and Doctorate degrees in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine from the Maryland University of Integrative Health, completing nearly 200 trimester hours and 400+ clinical treatments. Today, she is a licensed acupuncturist and Doctor of Oriental Medicine specializing in women's health, fertility support, sports medicine, and comprehensive mind-body care.
As an adjunct professor at Stevenson University, Dr. Renee designed and taught digital media courses, mentoring students in storytelling, communication, and project management—skills she now brings into every keynote, workshop, and retreat.
Through Sagelight Integrative Wellness Center, the Columbia, Maryland-based practice she founded and grew by over 160%, Dr. Renee continues to blend clinical expertise, curriculum design, and leadership development to support individuals and organizations in creating courageous, sustainable, and humane ways of working.
